Because I can feel, sense, touch and see,
And you cannot objectify me.
Because I shall use my voice to be heard,
Appreciated and respected;
I shall scream, I shall shout,
Nobody is allowed to leave my rights neglected.
Yet for those who do not listen or care for this plea,
Look at yourself and consider,
What if it were you and not me?
Because I am not bound by your ignorance,
Your destructiveness, your hate,
Or the fact that you cannot see
That you have tempered with my fate.
Your inhumanity helps to make me see
That you are the one that needs fixing,
Not me.
I think my final message to you is due –
I want you to understand that…
I own my body, not you.
