New beginnings
Silent starts
Just excuses to change a bit later
Resolutions can be useful
But why wait
And if we fail
Do we give up until the next year?
Sparkles in the sky
They fly so high
And leave us feeling
Significant
Like this day is life changing
A single minute passing
Is so special?
And aren’t years just another measurement
That exists to restrict our lives?
New year, new me?
Or same life, new moments?
New experiences that will shape who we are?
Fireworks in the sky
The only excitement we can master
Why not be thrilled about every other instance as well?
The fog fills the air
Smoke seeping into our lungs
Other animals distressed as we enjoy the loud bangs
No other way to have a good celebration?
New years, new tears
Never before seen joys and fears
It’s time to evolve
Right this moment
Now, forever
Not only when the calendar is changed
Smiles in the fires
That burn inside our minds
New excitements brought by new moments
Not new years
And oh isn’t it fun?
Appreciating opportunities
Let’s free ourselves from made up constraints
Try a bit more
To be who we want to be
And do what the world needs us to do
And then, the lights in the sky
Will exist in our eyes
From today till always.
